Exactly what is the Baby Boom?
We shouldn’t be surprised that there are differing definitions of the Baby Boom. Demographers define the Baby Boom as those folks born between 1946 and 1964. William Strauss and Neil Howe, two serious academics, define the Baby Boom as those born between 1943 and 1960. The most common number of births during this period is 78.2 million. Family size increased to 3.77 children per family in 1957. Most couples married younger and conceived within the first 7 months of marriage.
